Cleaning Up Big Dairies and Feedlots:
Advocates is pressuring the growing industry of industrial dairies and beef
cattle feedlots in Idaho to clean up their act. We filed suit against
a feedlot in Weiser for discharging wastewater directly to the Snake River;
and we are pursuing claims against massive dairies in the Magic Valley for
violations of federal hazardous waste laws. Client: Idaho

Idaho Power Rate Case: We have
intervened in Idaho Power's request to the Idaho PUC to raise their electric
rates and change rate structures. Working with our client NW Energy
Coalition, as well as the Natural Resources Defense Council, we will ask the
PUC to make changes to rates so that both Idaho Power and its customers have
incentives to conserve.

Energy Efficiency and Resource
Planning: In several proceedings before the Idaho PUC, we have forced
Idaho Power Company to fund and institute increased conservation and
efficiency programs, and to establish a collaborative Energy Efficiency
Advisory Group. Clients: NW Energy Coalition, Idaho Rivers United,
Idaho Rural Council
Renewable Energy: Our efforts
before the Idaho PUC have created progressive “net metering” programs (i.e.
installation of solar panels and ‘running the meter backwards’) for Idaho
utilities, allowing larger renewable energy systems for farmers and
commercial customers than other Northwest states. Clients: Renewable

Air Quality: We are
developing air
quality enforcement cases to protect human health and the environment.
