Alletta Belin: Contract Attorney
Letty serves as a contract attorney to Advocates for the West,
running our Santa Fe satellite office and directing our Middle
Rio Grande work in New Mexico. One of New Mexico’s most respected
water and environmental lawyers, Letty is a 1977 graduate of Stanford
Law School. She served as Assistant Attorney General for New Mexico
from 1993-98; and previously worked in private practice and with public
interest groups in California and New Mexico. Since 1999, Letty has
been a partner with Belin & Sugarman, a Santa Fe law firm that
specializes in public interest environmental law; and has served
as co-counsel with Laird Lucas in the Rio Grande Silvery Minnow v. Keys
litigation over water management in the Middle Rio Grande.
